Getting Started as an International Student
- In order to select your arrival date, you are recommended to contact the International Office by CC-ing your supervisor, before booking your ticket. The International Office collects all your required documents to apply for your residence permit. In general, the 20th of each month is the last document collection day (International office: ico@ku.edu.tr).
- A week before, please send the exact time of your arrival to your supervisor so that he can organize your arrival. He may email the security department to introduce you, and then you should get a visitor card from the security office after the entrance. The supervisor can support your arrival by asking his students to help you at the entrance and drive you to the campus. Please have an ID card (other than your passport), since you will need your passport later in the registration process inside the campus.
- If you are not a Turkish citizen, without receiving your YTC, you can not do anything (such as obtaining an ID Card, opening a Bank account, or having your email address and a SETCARD). Please keep in mind that you will not receive any salary during this period either (since you do not have YTC, the university cannot start your insurance). It usually takes around 40 days to complete the whole procedure, so be prepared! (please contact the international office for more detailed information regarding YTC)
